Chelsea left-back Ian Maatsen says he is ready for the 'next step' during his loan stint with Burnley.

The Dutchman has enjoyed loan spells with Coventry City and Charlton Athletic.

Maatsen told the club's website: "My first loan was with Charlton, and then with Coventry, so now I'm stepping up to a bigger club and in a big league, so it will be more interesting.

"There are more games in the Championship [than other leagues] but that's what you play football for – big games, big crowds, and less training with more games.

"That's why it's important for me to get fit, stay fit, and continue playing games at a high level."
