Chelsea management are fully behind keeping hold of Kai Havertz.
His contract at Chelsea expires in 2025, meaning that the club will need to make a decision soon on his long-term future and either offer the 23-year-old an extension or look to move him on while they can still ask for a reasonable return on the 72million they paid Bayer Leverkusen for him in 2020.
However, the Chelsea board are desperate" for Havertz to realise his potential at the club according to journalist Simon Phillips, which may translate as the Blues hierarchy leaning towards offering him an extension before he reaches the final year of his contract.
Potter has continued to back Kai Havertz, continued to pick him, even in his poor form, and Havertz has appreciated that. The hierarchy, the Chelsea board, they've always seen something in Havertz and they've been desperate to see that come out," Phillips told GiveMeSport
