Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly has made contact with Sevilla regarding the signing of Jules Kounde.
The Blues were said to have stopped talks with the Spanish club, after failing to agree a fee dating back to last summer.
According to ABC Sevilla, Boehly has himself made contact with Sevilla's hierarchy to discuss a deal.
The two parties are hoping they can swiftly conclude a deal, as Kounde is manager Thomas Tuchel's number one defensive target.
Barcelona are also eager to sign the Frenchman, but do not have the funds to complete any transfers imminently.
