A father in Kuala Lumpur wanted to teach his 13-year-old daughter a lesson, so he hit her. However, the punishment unintentionally caused injuries to her arm and leg.

The man became angry after his teenage daughter stayed out late at night and refused to go to school.

To make matters worse, the girl talked back while he was scolding her, prompting him to act out in anger. The father, S. Arunjothy, a lorry driver, expressed regret over his actions after his daughter sustained injuries.

The 38-year-old admitted in the Magistrate Court on 19 September that he lost his temper when his daughter refused to listen and talked back.

He also told the Court that it was the first time he had beaten his daughter and that he never intended to hurt her

“I understand, and I regret it,” Arunjothy said after the judge told him he should not have beaten his daughter to that extent.

Meanwhile, Deputy Public Prosecutor Nadia Eleena Jamaluddin Akbal proposed that the accused be given a suitable punishment as a deterrent. The accused, represented by lawyer K. Gejalaxmi, appealed for a lighter sentence.

According to the charge, Arunjothy was accused of intentionally causing injury by hitting his 13-year-old daughter on the arm and leg at their home in Cheras at 11 AM on 3 September.

The Magistrate Court fined him RM1,000 after he pleaded guilty, as reported by Sinar Harian.

The magistrate also warned him not to repeat the same mistake, especially considering the victim’s young age.
