SHAH ALAM, Jan 18 — Cheremi Tarman was appointed as the 11th mayor of Shah Alam effective today.
His appointment was announced through the State Secretary’s Facebook, after the appointment session by State Secretary Dato’ Haris Kasim.
Cheremi, 59, replaces Dr Nor Fuad Abdul Hamid who currently serves as deputy chief secretary (management) at the Transport Ministry.
He was previously appointed as the Deputy Mayor of Shah Alam on 9 January 2023, before assuming the position of Mayor of Shah Alam starting on 27 October.
He graduated with a Master of Business Administration from the University of Selangor and has served in several local authorities including the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ).
He has also served as deputy chairman of the Selayang Municipal Council (MPS) from August 2020 to December 2022.
