Chery Auto shows how EVs can act as an active energy assets rather than passive power consumers.
Besides showing the iCAUR V25 at the 2026 Chery International User Summit, Chery demonstrated how clean solar generation, local energy storage, and smart charging infrastructure can combine to make rapid vehicle top-ups as quick and routine as grabbing a cup of coffee.

Governed by intelligent AI dispatch systems, the center illustrates the real-world flow of solar-generated electricity moving through localized microgrids to deliver low-emission mobility at scale.
China’s First Scaled AC V2G Demonstration Station
A major milestone of the Wuhu facility is its status as China’s first AC Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) demonstration station deployed at scale.
The installation combines photovoltaic panels, industrial battery storage, and smart dispensers into a self-sustaining local microgrid. The setup is engineered to support megawatt-level ultra-fast charging alongside a solar-powered green rest area for motorists.

Crucially, bidirectional V2G hardware transforms parked electric vehicles into mobile battery storage units. Under this bidirectional architecture, EV owners can charge their vehicles during cheap off-peak hours and discharge stored power back into the public grid during peak demand windows to earn tariff incentives. Where supported by local utility policies, these connected vehicles can also reverse-feed power to supply homes and community facilities during unexpected blackouts, stabilizing urban distribution grids while optimizing renewable energy capture.
Volt-Dragon Charging, Superconducting R&D, and Rhino Batteries
Beyond grid-level distribution, Chery Auto showcased a suite of proprietary hardware and battery technologies engineered across different operating environments:
- Volt-Dragon Charger: Proprietary high-output charging tech that sharply compresses vehicle dwell times, backed by an autonomous “island mode” that allows the station to maintain uninterrupted vehicle charging even during sudden upstream grid blackouts.
- Superconducting Charging Research: Ongoing laboratory development exploring superconducting charging technology to deliver higher current throughput with reduced heat generation, paving the way for on-demand high-power delivery.
- Energy Cube for Households: A modular residential energy storage system that pairs rooftop solar, home battery banks, and bidirectional wallboxes to maximize household consumption of self-generated green power and shield families from surging utility bills.
- Next-Gen Battery Chemistries: Alongside its production-proven, long-cycle-life Rhino batteries, Chery highlighted ongoing development of all-solid-state battery cells. Laboratory test samples have achieved high physical stress tolerance, providing a foundation for safer automotive and stationary battery installations.
Commercial Freight Deployment: The Spanish Electric Truck Microgrid
Chery’s smart energy blueprint is already moving beyond domestic passenger car applications. At a dedicated heavy-duty electric commercial truck park in Spain, the company has deployed a working commercial microgrid combining on-site solar generation, high-capacity battery storage, and high-power truck charging bays.

Serving as a replicable blueprint for long-haul logistics fleets worldwide, the Spanish site proves how integrated renewable hubs can satisfy the heavy kilowatt demands of freight transit without overloading local utility substations.
