Chess Hub Titans win the 2026 National-level PMX Team Chess Cup with a perfect 7-0 streak, taking home RM6,000.

SHAH ALAM: Chess Hub Titans has emerged champions of the 2026 National-level PMX Team Chess Cup, winning RM6,000 and a challenge trophy.

Tan Jun Ying, 23, Kevin Mohan,15, Chow Yi Chen, 12 and Mukhriez Shah Mahmood Shah, 23, won the championship with a 7-0 winning streak, with team CLLC second, Penang TARUMT third, MIED Chess Squad fourth and Chess Hub Queens fifth.

Team leader Tan expressed surprise at their success, describing it as a proud achievement.

“I’m very happy and proud of my team as they all played extremely well and beat the other teams,” he told Bernama.

Meanwhile Malaysian Chess Federation president Akhramsyah Muammar Ubaidah Sanusi said chess tournaments were able to attract youth, with this year’s championship, which is in its third edition, receiving good response from chess players of various ages.

He said that this year’s championship used a team format with four main players and a reserve player.

“This format can encourage cooperation and strategy among players and provide opportunities for more players to compete,” he added.
