Kota Kinabalu: A chicken smuggling activity into Sabah has been detected which is seen to have caused a problem to the State Government and the people.
The matter was revealed following a visit by the Assistant Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries I of Sabah, Datuk James Ratib, to the Veterinary Department in Sepanggar, here, early today.
“I just visited the Veterinary Department in Sepanggar and met with the officers there. We find the way they control chicken smuggling is very loose,” he said.
"Therefore, I have taken several resolutions that are expected to curb chicken smuggling on a large scale in Sabah.”
James also said he will highlight the issue of halal chicken because when smuggling is involved, the halal status is uncertain.
