Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor was briefed Tuesday on the latest progress of the second phase of the National Digital Network Plan (Jendela 2), which aims to expand digital communications infrastructure and connectivity across the state.
The briefing took place during a courtesy call by Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil at Hajiji’s office in Menara Kinabalu here (pic).
Jendela 2 is expected to benefit residents in rural and remote areas who continue to face difficulties accessing quality internet services due to geographical challenges and dispersed populations.
Also present during the visit were Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) chairman Tan Sri Mohamad Salim Fateh Din and MCMC commission member Gen (Rtd) Tan Sri Zulkifeli Mohd Zin.
Other attendees included Sabah Education, Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk James Ratib, the ministry’s permanent secretary Datuk Hassan Mahali and Sabah Net chairman Datuk Azman Ruslan, and nominated state assemblyman Datuk Mohamed Razali Mohd Razi.
Fahmi had previously said JENDELA 2 would cover 3,000 locations nationwide, with approximately 2,000 sites in remote areas of Sabah and Sarawak forming a major focus of the programme.
