Kota Kinabalu: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said Sabahans should celebrate Malaysia Day with deep patriotism while preserving unity among all races and religions.

In his Malaysia Day message, Hajiji said Sept 16 remains a significant date marking Malaysia’s formation and the nation’s sovereignty.

“As Malaysians, we must always remember this historic day. The formation of Malaysia has brought blessings to all levels of society, but our nation-building journey continues with many challenges ahead,” he said.

He said that only through unity, solidarity and togetherness can these challenges be overcome.

He urged all Malaysians to embrace this year’s theme “Malaysia Madani: Rakyat Disantuni”, which reflects the government’s commitment to people’s welfare based on Malaysia Madani principles.

This aligns with Sabah’s Maju Jaya Development Plan that prioritises people’s well-being, justice, unity and equitable development across all segments of society, Hajiji added.
