Kota Kinabalu: Two child offenders were charged in the Court for Children in connection with a bullying case which had been reported in September 2025.
The offenders were brought before Magistrate Zuraini Ali Musa and they pleaded guilty to the charges against them on Wednesday at Papar Magistrate’s Court.
The court set Oct 29 this year for re-mentioning the case pending the probation report of the child offenders.
Pending the date, the child offenders were released on bail of RM3,000 (undeposited).
It was learnt that the first child offender was charged with causing injuries to two juniors and was charged under Section 323 of the Penal Code while the other child offender was charged under Section 507B of the Penal Code for harassing one of the juniors.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Kareena Kaur Gill Karamjit Singh appeared for the prosecution while the child offenders were not represented.
Counsel Nurshalilah Fauzan Mailin is holding as a watching brief for one of the alleged victims.
In September 2025, the media reported that a Form Two student of a school in Papar was allegedly bullied by senior students, believed to be because he was late returning to the hostel room in an incident on the night of Sept 7, 2025.
Following the incident, the victim’s mother lodged a police report at the Papar District Police Headquarters (IPD) on Sept 9, 2025.
The victim’s mother was said to have lodged the report after being informed by a school teacher about the incident.
However, Nurshalilah, who represented the mother of the alleged victim at that time, said another police report was lodged at the Kota Kinabalu IPD the day before, after her client felt there had been an attempt to settle the matter amicably between the parents of the student who allegedly bullied her child and her client.
It was reported that the alleged bullying incident occurred at about 11 pm on Sept 7, 2025, within the school compound.
It was also reported that the alleged victim, a male student, claimed that he was kicked in the stomach, slapped on the cheek, and punched in the nose by a senior, resulting in injuries.
It was also reported that the alleged victim was ordered to iron clothes by another senior from the same school.
It was also reported that the State Education Department then confirmed that the student involved had been suspended from school.
