Kota Kinabalu: A 19-year-old youth was tentatively charged in the Magistrate’s Court here with trafficking in 3,4-Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA) of 206.68grams.
No plea was recorded from Jack Goh after the charge was read to him before Magistrate Marilyn Kelvin.
Goh is accused of trafficking the drug in front of a shop at Asia City, near here at 2.30am on Sept 18 this year.
He was charged under Section 39B (1) (a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, punishable under Section 39B (2) of the same Act carries the death sentence or an imprisonment for life and if not sentenced to death, will be punished with whipping of not less than 12 strokes, upon conviction.
The court fixed Oct 19 to re-mention the case and ordered Goh to be remanded further pending the disposal of his case.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Akaash Singh prosecuted the case.
Meanwhile, two men claimed trial to voluntarily causing hurt to another man.
Sudirman Suwardi, 26, Johan Jahari, 24, made the pleas respectively before Magistrate Dzul Elmy Yunus, after the charge was read to them.
The duo is accused of causing hurt to the 25-year-old man at 10.30pm on Jan 7 this year at the Padang Kontena in University Apartment 1, Jalan Sulaman, near here.
They allegedly committed the offence together with two accomplices at large.
Their case would be mentioned back on Oct 26 this year and released on bail of RM3,000 in two local sureties.
