Child Rights Network mourns with ADZU

Child Rights Network Philippines late on Tuesday said they sent their heartfelt condolences to families who lost loved ones in the shooting incident at the Ateneo de Zamboanga University (ADZU).

In a statement, the group called on a “swift, fair and sensitive investigation” over the incident and that schools should be safe spaces for children and young people.

“We call for a swift, fair, and sensitive investigation, adequate psychosocial support for those affected, and responsible sharing of information. In the midst of grief, let us uphold compassion, accountability, and unity to help keep every child safe,” the network said.

“As the official investigation continues, everyone is urged not to share sensitive photos and videos, unverified information, or any speculation. Let us respect the privacy and dignity of the victims and their families, and rely only on official and trustworthy statements,” they added.

Two people, including the shooter, were killed in the incident on Tuesday.
