Chin appointed soft tennis TD at SEA Games

Kota Kinabalu: Sabah’s KK Chin has been appointed as one of the soft tennis technical delegates (TD) in the upcoming SEA Games in Cambodia.

The Sabah Soft Tennis Association’s (SSTA) head coach scheduled to leave for Cambodia on April 30 is also given the task by Asian Soft Tennis Federation Secretary General Tatsuo Kasai to conduct a practical test during the competition for 10 umpires.

According to him, five of them are from Cambodia, two from Laos, and one each from Philippines, Timor Leste and they are hoping to pass their international certificate following the test.

He added that he will also be involved in the soft tennis roadshow starting in the Peninsula immediately after the SEA Games in May.

Meanwhile, SSTA president Justine Liew is delighted to see the final 25 students out of the total 90 cted in early January from SJK (C) St James Likas had completed their junior development programme recently.

He expressed his gratitude to the school’s principal Andrew Chong Man Kuen for allowing soft tennis to be introduced into the school, and to the Sports Commissioner, Sabah Sports Council and Sabah Sports Board for their support as well as to Mohd Afifi Mohd Nasir, Venessa Kutai, Jessice Chin Lee Chiew, Fendy Rayner Jimmy, Alvin Kong Yun Keong, Jacintha Kutai and Max Lin Htut Aung in helping out during the sessions.

With the success of the pioneering programme, he called on the coaches to scout for more potential students from other schools situated nearby Likas. He also revealed that they will be organising the Junior and Open championship on June 24-25.
