After Japan, South Korea, Chinese Taipei and Hong Kong, the Asian leg of the BWF World Tour 2024 shifts to China for a week of edge-of-the-seat badminton action. The China Open 2024 has all the ingredients to be an enthralling badminton tournament. We will talk about it at length, but first, here are some key points you need to keep in mind:
- Date: 17 to 22 September
- Venue: Changzhou, China
Held for the first time in 1986, the China Open became a part of the BWF Super Series in 2007. By 2018, it received the status of a Super 1000 tournament, meaning it is one of the most prestigious badminton events in the world.
So what does that mean in practice? The tournament shares the same status as the All England Open. Therefore, star badminton players such as Viktor Axelsen, Lee Zii Jia, Kodai Naraoka and Kunlavut Vitidsarn (among others) will be seen in action at the China Open 2024.
However, it is not just the honour of winning a Super 1000 tournament that awaits the winners of the China Open 2024. The champions in all divisions will also be handsomely rewarded with cash prizes and BWF points.
On that note, let’s delve deep into the prize money pool of the China Open 2024, its schedule (dates), venue and details about how to live stream the badminton competition.
