KUALA LUMPUR - China has unveiled a new action plan focused on stabilising employment, expanding job opportunities and improving the quality of jobs across the country.
The plan, released on May 18 by the leading group on employment work under the State Council, outlines several policy measures to address labour demand and strengthen employment growth.
Among the key priorities are meeting labour needs in major sectors, creating more job opportunities and improving employment quality.
To stabilise labour demand, the government plans to strengthen the manufacturing sector based on local conditions to absorb more workers.
The plan also includes stronger support for industries such as construction, accommodation and food services to create additional employment opportunities.
Authorities will also maintain the recruitment scale for government-supported positions to ensure stable hiring levels.
To expand employment opportunities further, the government plans to encourage job creation in the consumption sector and through large-scale investment projects.
The plan also aims to develop new productive industries, expand jobs in the public service sector and strengthen employment opportunities through balanced urban-rural and regional development.
Authorities said entrepreneurship would also play an important role in driving employment growth nationwide.
As part of efforts to improve job quality, the plan focuses on vocational skills training, improving high-quality employment services and protecting workers’ rights and interests.
The government also aims to encourage more positive public attitudes towards employment and workforce participation.
