Kota Kinabalu: A Chinese calligraphy competition will be held simultaneously in ten divisions across the State, at 1.30pm, on Aug 26.

The programme is jointly-organised by WSG Properties Sdn Bhd and Sabah Kota Kinabalu Calligraphy Association.

Organising Chairman Thien Bak Xian the competition aims to promote the interest, study and research of calligraphy, aside from to improve the calligraphy level and appreciation in the State and at the same time to promote excellent Chinese culture.

“After three years of online competitions, in order to more intuitively demonstrate the calligraphy art to the people, physical competitions will resume this year,” he said in a statement, Friday.

Read more He said the competition is divided into seven groups, namely, the lower primary school, upper primary school, junior high school, upper high school, college and teacher, open and elite.

“Those who love calligraphy can sign up for this year’s calligraphy competition.

“The competition is recognised by the Sabah Education Department and all participants will get a certificate and can get marks for extra-curricular activities (PAJSK).”

Registration deadline is on Aug 15, and on-site registration will not be accepted after that.
