ELEMENTS of the Eastern Police District (EPD) arrested a 21-year-old Chinese man after he assaulted a responding mall security guard and damaged the victim’s personal property at the MOA Complex, Barangay 76, Pasay City, on Thursday morning.
Police identified the suspect as alias Wen, 21, a Chinese tourist without a permanent address in the Philippines, who failed to present identification documents.
An initial police investigation showed that at about 10:40 a.m. on Aug. 20, 2026, a female security guard sought assistance from the 49-year-old duty security guard, asking him to invite the suspect to the Customer Relations Services (CRS) office for identity verification regarding a prior theft report.
As the guard on duty approached the foreigner near the 4th-floor MOA Sky football field, he suddenly punched the guard in the face, inflicting a nasal fracture. During the assault, the suspect also trampled on and broke the victim’s prescription eyeglasses and attempted to flee.
Nearby security personnel immediately pursued and restrained the suspect, turning him over to responding officers from Sub-Station 10.
The suspect was taken to the police station for documentation and medical examination before being referred to the Investigation and Detective Management Section (IDMS).
Formal complaints for Physical Injuries and Malicious Mischief are being prepared for inquest proceedings before the Pasay City Prosecutor’s Office.
Southern Police District Director BGen. Glenn Oliver Cinco lauded the quick action of the security personnel and responding officers in apprehending the suspect.
Cinco reiterated that foreigners visiting the country are expected to abide by local laws and maintain public order, emphasizing that the SPD will firmly enforce the law against any acts of violence.
