A CHINESE national has been arrested on suspicion of recording indecent videos inside a public toilet at a shopping mall in Bukit Jalil, in an incident reported to police by a local man.
Cheras district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Rosdi Daud said the arrest was made at about 1.28pm on Saturday following the complaint.
He said the incident occurred at around 11am when the victim realised he was being recorded by an individual in the adjacent cubicle using a mobile phone.
“The suspect is a Chinese national male in his mid-20s.
“During the arrest, police also seized a mobile phone belonging to the suspect. An initial examination of the device uncovered a number of obscene videos in its gallery,” he said in a statement tonight.
He added that the suspect has admitted involvement in the incident.
Police said the case is being investigated under Section 509 of the Penal Code and Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 for not possessing valid travel documents.
The suspect has been remanded for 14 days under the Immigration Act, from yesterday until April 9, while investigations continue. - March 29, 2026
