On August 13 at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), a Chinese woman and three other Chinese nationals, including two children, were found to have no entry records.
They were stopped at Terminal 1 Departure Hall during an immigration check and sent to the Team Supervisor for further verification.
An officer was assaulted
According to a statement by the Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS), the woman got upset when asked to let other passengers go through while her check was being done. She then started verbally abusing the officer and pushed her head hard against a counter pole.
“The suspect verbally abused the officer with foul language, pulled the officer’s headscarf, and forcefully pushed her head toward a pole in front of the counter. An enforcement officer from AKPS immediately called the Aviation Security (AVSEC) team to control the situation,” the statement read.
A brief struggle broke out, and the suspect refused to calm down before being detained by authorities.
The officer suffered swelling around her left eye, a headache on the right side, and body aches, and was sent to Cyberjaya Hospital for treatment and a medical report.
“AKPS will not tolerate any form of violence”
A police report has been lodged, and the suspect is now in the custody of the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) for further investigation.
The case is being investigated under Sections 186, 332 and 354 of the Penal Code for obstructing a public servant, causing hurt to a public servant and using criminal force against a public servant, respectively.
AKPS stressed that they will not tolerate any violence, abuse, or threats toward officers carrying out their duties and expect the authorities to take proper legal action against those involved.
