PUTRAJAYA – To mark the upcoming 50th anniversary of Malaysia-China bilateral relations next year, the Malaysian government has granted Chinese tourists a 30-day visa exemption, effective from Dec 1, 2023.

The announcement was made Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today, in his winding-up speech at PKR’s 17th Annual Congress at PICC Putrajaya, here, today.

“But of course, this is subjected to our security screening. Those with criminal records or pose risks of terrorism will not be allowed in,” said Anwar adding that the finer details of the matter will be announced by the Home Ministry soon.

Aside from China, Anwar also announced that tourists from Gulf countries and the Middle East will also benefit from visa exemptions.

However, the PKR president did not specify whether the duration of the exemptions for these countries will be similar to the ones granted to Chinese tourists.
