A simple meal at a popular nasi kandar spot in Penang turned into a heartwarming act of generosity when a Chinese woman surprised the owner by paying RM110 for a RM10 meal — asking that the extra RM100 be used to feed those in need.

In a Facebook post shared by Nasi Kandar Sulaiman, the woman said she was inspired after seeing the vendor’s social media posts, including one where he treated a disabled family to a meal, as well as his consistent messages about charity.

“She shared that she felt moved to donate after seeing my posts where I treated an OKU (disabled) family to a meal, and also other posts about charity.

“Alhamdulillah, it was really touching. Even though I include Quran verses and hadith in my posts, people from all backgrounds still enjoy reading them. When you share good things, everyone appreciates it.”

The vendor shared he plans to use the donation to help people of all races; Malays, Indians, and others — calling it a true example of how generosity can bring communities together.

“The donor was a Chinese lady, but insyaAllah the money will be used to help Malays, Indians, and others too. This is what we call charity that strengthens unity.”
