PUTATAN (July 11): STPM leavers in the Putatan have been urged to sustain their academic momentum and pursue fields aligned with industry needs as they transition into higher education and the workforce.

Putatan MP Datuk Ir Shahelmey Yahya said keeping pace with evolving industry demands at both state and national levels should motivate students to excel in their chosen fields.

He cited artificial intelligence (AI) as an example of a high-demand area across various industries, encouraging students to explore emerging fields in a structured and sustainable manner while contributing to Putatan’s development.

“STPM leavers must be strategic in selecting subjects if they intend to pursue tertiary education. Likewise, those entering the workforce should choose fields and skills that are in demand across industries.

“This is important in developing an intellectually capable society in Putatan and ensuring the district remains competitive in the future,” he said after officiating the STPM 2025 Excellent Students Contribution Presentation Ceremony at Hotel Pan Borneo here yesterday.

A total of 44 STPM leavers from the Putatan parliamentary constituency received recognition and contributions in appreciation of their academic achievements.

The recipients comprised students from SMK Putatan, SMK Sanzac and SMK La Salle.
