A Stockholm State of Mind and a Chatty Banana

What’s on my wish list this year? I’d say a flight ticket to Stockholm, Sweden – one of my favourite cities ever. I’ve been there three times but it has been awhile since my last visit. I was a student then but now as a working adult, I think I’ll be able to experience the Scandinavian city from a different perspective. Whether it’s exploring the dining scene or checking out the museums and neighborhoods (like Östermalm and Södermalm), it’d be nice to forge a whole new adventure for myself. I remember doing the underground art tour, dining at Meatballs For The People and strolling Gamla Stan. I’d like to do all of that one again. Definitely.

What else is on my wish list? I would like a Talking Banana. My favourite fruit is a banana and one that talks? Even better! And yes, any banana would work. Thanks to Gwen Stefani, I will also never forget how to spell my friend’s name. — Ronn Tan

The Cold, Puffy Jackets, and the Aurora Borealis

If I had one wish this gifting season, it’s to pack a bag, hop on a plane, and finally see the northern lights. I mean, how can you not want to witness nature basically flexing its best neon light show in the sky? It’s on my bucket list, and honestly, it’s about time I checked it off.

Just imagine me, standing there in five layers of puffy jackets because I’m terrible at handling the cold, watching the aurora borealis do its thing while I try to take the perfect picture for Instagram (which will probably just look like a blurry green smudge anyway). But hey, I’d be living my best main-character moment, freezing fingers and all.

So yeah, forget socks or gadgets—if you’re looking to gift me something unforgettable, just send me somewhere north, under the lights. Bonus points if it comes with a cosy cabin and hot chocolate because I’ll definitely need it. — Martin Teo

For the Love of Stationery and Nostalgia

Okay, so first on my wish list: a Hobonichi planner. Yes, they’re everywhere right now, and yes, they’re ridiculously expensive, but I need one. Maybe it’ll help me finally get my life together (wishful thinking, I know).

Next, CDs of my favorite artists—Mitski, Paramore, Taylor Swift, Florence + The Machine—you get the vibe. I just got a stereo system, and now I’ve decided I’m going to start collecting physical media like it’s 2005. It’s a vibe, it’s a mission, and honestly, it’s so much cooler than streaming. — Puteri Yasmin Suraya

Pixel Art and a Time Machine, Please

Alright, so after some deep, existential pondering (read: scrolling through TikTok for hours), I’ve finally nailed down what I want for Christmas this year. I’d love to have the Divoom Bluetooth speaker that also moonlights as a mini karaoke machine. Like, have you seen this thing? It’s got pixel art on the display—pure genius. For someone who lives for blasting music at full volume, this is a total game-changer. Oh, and it doubles as a karaoke machine? Say less. Honestly, if that’s not peak ‘treat yourself’ energy, I don’t know what is. Plus, it’ll make my computer setup look so much cooler, which is important because, yes, I’m absolutely the type who drops an obscene amount of money on games and proudly calls it an investment.

But let’s talk next-level wish list items. If Santa, or literally anyone out there with magical powers, is taking requests, I want a time machine. Just a quick rewind button to my college days would be perfect. Back when life was all late-night chats with my favourite people, zero responsibilities, and fearlessly chasing whatever caught my attention (even the questionable stuff). I miss those long naps, spontaneous road trips, and not having to worry about bills, deadlines, or my email inbox. So yeah, Santa, if you’re reading this, forget the cookies—I’m leaving you a whole PowerPoint presentation on why this needs to happen. — Melissa Foong

The Snow Globe Collector’s Manifesto

When people ask me what I want for the gifting season, my answer is simple: snow globes. That’s it. Just snow globes. Big ones, tiny ones, weird ones, the kind with glitter that makes a mess, and even the ones that play slightly off-key holiday tunes when you shake them. I don’t need the latest tech or some overpriced gadget. Nope. Just give me a snow globe, and I’m happy.

Why? Because snow globes are basically tiny magical worlds you can hold in your hand, minus the existential dread of actual winter. Plus, they’re like the gift that keeps on giving—every time I shake one, I get a snowstorm on demand. And let’s be real, there’s something hilariously extra about collecting as many as I can until my house looks like a snow globe museum. So yeah, skip the fancy stuff—give me my portable winter wonderlands, and I’m good to go. — Mallie Maran

Blocking Out the World in Style

Alright, let’s be real—I would love Nicholas Alexander Chavez, but if we’re talking about realistic gifts here, I’ll settle for a pair of AirPods Max. Hear me out: these aren’t just any headphones. We’re talking industry-leading active noise cancellation, meaning I can block out everything—everything—including those awkward small talk conversations. The ear cups are insanely comfortable, too, like they’re hugging your ears instead of pinching them. I’m talking about wearing them for hours without wanting to rip them off.

Oh, and the battery life? Phenomenal. I could probably listen to music for days and still not have to charge them. Seriously, these are an essential if you like tuning out the world and keeping your music all to yourself. So yeah, AirPods Max, please. — Benjamin Wong
