A 19-year-old teen who was reported missing after she was believed to have gotten lost while descending Bukit Changkat Asa on Saturday was found dead today, following an intensive search and rescue (SAR) operation.

Teen’s Initial disappearance

The victim, Nur Izzati Humaira Azizul, was reported missing after she failed to return from a hiking trip at Bukit Changkat Asa. Authorities were alerted on Saturday afternoon at around 1.28 p.m., prompting an immediate search operation by the fire department and other rescue agencies.

Search and rescue efforts

The SAR operation was coordinated by the Kuala Kubu Bharu Fire and Rescue Station, with assistance from multiple agencies including the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM), volunteer fire brigades, the Forestry Department, Land Office, mountain guides and volunteers.

On the second day of operations, the search area was expanded to approximately 0.43 square kilometres, before being further widened to 0.65 square kilometres on the third day.

Search teams also deployed the Fire and Rescue Department’s canine unit to assist in locating the missing victim.

Discovery of the victim

According to the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department, the victim’s body was found at 11.58am on Tuesday by the Special Tactical Operation and Rescue Team (STORM).

She was discovered in a plantation area about 500 metres from her last known location, which is roughly one kilometre away from the incident command post.

Authorities confirmed that she had died at the scene and her remains were later handed over to the police for further escalation.

Post-recovery procedures

The victim’s body has been sent to Hospital Kuala Kubu Bharu for a post-mortem examination.

Officials have yet to release further details as investigations continue.
