CIDG recalls subpoena for dela Rosa

THE Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) of the Philippine National Police (PNP) said on Wednesday that it recalled a subpoena issued to Sen. Ronald Dela Rosa as an act of institutional courtesy to the Senate.

”This morning, CIDG personnel forwarded the letter of recall of the subpoena duces tecum supposedly to be received by Senator Bato in his office in the Senate. He, however, was not physically there. It was just received by his personal staff on his behalf,” Brig. Gen. Randulf Tuaño told reporters in an interview at Camp Crame.

”This is in connection to the agreement of PNP chief [Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr.] and CIDG director [Maj. Gen. Robert Alexander Morico II] to respect the Senate protection order issued to Sen. Bato Dela Rosa,” Tuaño said.

On Monday, the PNP served a subpoena to the residence and office of Dela Rosa in Davao del Sur and in the Senate. The subpoena, the PNP clarified, was not connected to the arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court to the senator but to the recent extrajudicial killing complaints received by the PNP as a result of the House Quad Committee hearings last year.

The subpoena directed Dela Rosa to appear before the CIDG on Thursday.

Dela Rosa showed up at the Senate on Monday, where he has holed up to avoid arrest following the issuance of a warrant by the International Criminal Court.
