TUY, Batangas — Citicore Renewable Energy Corp. (CREC) is targeting the completion of three new agrosolar facilities — two in Central Luzon and the third in Negros Occidental — this year.
Citicore Foundation head Czarina Valeros told reporters that the company was planning to add to its current lineup of three facilities in Batangas and Pampanga.
The three operating facilities are the 9.1-hectare Citicore Solar Batangas 1 in Barangay Luntal, Tuy, Batangas; the five-hectare Citicore Solar Batangas 1 in Barangay Lumbangan, also in Tuy, Batangas; and the 11.36-hectare Citicore Solar Pampanga in Arayat.
The company is in the process of developing the three new facilities in Pangasinan, Tarlac and Negros Occidental, she said.
“We have other projects already in the pipeline for development. We have one in Binalonan, Pangasinan, in partnership with the LGU (local government unit),” Valeros said.
The second facility, Citicore Solar Tarlac 1, is in Barangay Dalayap, Tarlac City, which is being developed in partnership with the Department of Agriculture (DA).
“We’re still trying to work with DA [on] what priority crops they want in the facility,” Valeros said.
The last facility Citicore is eyeing to activate this year is one in Silay, Negros Occidental.
“The LGU [there] is showing interest,” Valeros said.
Through its agrosolar initiatives, Citicore Renewable integrates solar power generation with agricultural crop production. It aims to ensure that host communities are not displaced by renewable energy projects.
Citicore Renewable shares on Thursday closed unchanged at P4.98 each.
