Civil servant arrested for making false claims amounting to RM200,000

SEREMBAN - The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in Negeri Sembilan has detained a civil servant from a government department on suspicion of using her position to obtain false claims amounting to over RM200,000.

According to sources, the suspect, a woman in her 30s, was arrested at around 1pm on Wednesday when she presented herself at the Negeri Sembilan MACC office to give a statement.

"The suspect is believed to have committed these actions from 2020 to 2023 by adjudicating false claims as bribes for herself," said the source.

Negeri Sembilan MACC Director Awgkok Ahmad Taufik Putra Awg Ismail confirmed the arrest when contacted.

"The probe is being conducted under Section 23 of the MACC Act 2009, and the suspect will be taken to the Seremban Magistrate's Court for a remand application tomorrow morning," he said.
