
A civil servant in Sabah has been remanded for seven days by MACC over alleged abuse of power involving RM2 million worth of government projects.
KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has remanded a civil servant for allegedly abusing his position to verify the Certificate of Practical Completion for 15 government projects worth RM2 million.
Magistrate Flavian Edward Henry issued a seven-day remand order against the suspect until Oct 12, 2026, after the MACC applied at the Keningau Magistrate’s Court this morning.
According to a source, the male suspect in his 40s was detained around 4 pm yesterday when he turned up to give his statement at the Keningau MACC branch office.
The suspect is believed to have abused his position by verifying completion certificates for government projects carried out by a company owned by a family member between 2021 and 2024.
Meanwhile, Sabah MACC director Datuk Mohd Fuad Bee Basrah, when contacted, confirmed the arrest and said the case is being investigated under Section 23 of the MACC Act 2009.
