Malaysia’s recent achievements on both domestic and international fronts were described by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as the outcome of a unified civil service working behind the scenes at every level. Speaking at a dinner held in conjunction with the 30th Cuepacs Triennial Congress at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur, he noted that the performance of any prime minister is closely tied to the capability and commitment of the public sector.

He shared that Malaysia’s presence at major global engagements — including the recent ASEAN Summit, the ASEAN–GCC meeting and several international visits — had resulted in praise from foreign leaders who now view the country as increasingly attractive for investment and innovation, particularly in new technologies and artificial intelligence. According to him, such recognition does not come from leadership alone but is shaped by the cooperation of the entire government machinery.

Anwar emphasised that the contributions of civil servants extend beyond senior officials. He pointed out that the success of national initiatives is supported by individuals across the hierarchy, including workers responsible for frontline tasks, logistics, maintenance, and administrative operations. Their collective role, he said, forms the backbone of the country’s progress.

During the event, the prime minister also announced an additional RM500,000 contribution to assist with the travel expenses of delegates attending the three-day Cuepacs convention. Senior government officials including Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar, Public Service Department director-general Tan Sri Wan Ahmad Dahlan Abdul Aziz, and Cuepacs president Datuk Dr Adnan Mat were also present.

Anwar expressed appreciation for the Public Service Department and Cuepacs for their efforts in formulating the new Public Service Remuneration System (SSPA), which has received strong support from civil servants nationwide. He described the initiative as a sincere effort reflecting the government’s commitment to improving public sector wellbeing.

He further stressed that the principles of compassion, fairness and dignity must guide the implementation of the new remuneration system, particularly for lower-income civil servants. Ensuring that these groups receive adequate support, he said, was aligned with the values of the Madani framework.

In his speech, Adnan reiterated Cuepacs’ pledge to continue serving with loyalty and dedication, assuring that civil servants remain committed to delivering efficient services to the public. He said the union fully supports the prime minister’s expectations that public sector performance should match the government’s policy announcements and initiatives. He also expressed confidence that regardless of future policy shifts, the principles ensuring that civil servants are not placed in a less favourable position would continue to be upheld.
