Clashes broke out Thursday on the University of Navarra campus in Pamplona between far-left protesters and police after Vito Quiles announced a talk without university authorization.

Though Quiles canceled the event at the last minute, tensions flared as protesters confronted officers, chanting “Fascists out of our streets,” throwing objects, and lighting flares.

Riot police intervened and set up a cordon to separate the groups. No arrests were reported.

Committee to Protect Journalists reported that masked protesters attacked journalist José Ismael Martínez while he was covering the clashes.
