Does the Claude Team plan include API credits? Since 7 October 2026, yes. Claude Team API credits come to US$20 for each Standard seat and US$100 for each Premium seat, pooled and capped at US$500 a month (about RM 2,040). The catch: the credit expires every billing cycle, and nobody gets it until an owner claims it.
API credits are prepaid money for the Claude API, which is how your own software talks to Claude with nobody typing in the chat window. So this is a monthly budget for tools that run on their own.

What Claude Team API credits cover, and what they don't
The credit pays for the Claude API, Claude Managed Agents, the Claude Agent SDK and the Console playground.
It doesn't pay for Claude Code, Anthropic's coding tool, or for extra usage in the Claude apps. Claude Code keeps running on your subscription's limits, and the credit doesn't raise them.
When it runs out, API calls stop until next month's credit lands, unless you've bought more. Anthropic never bills the gap to your Claude plan.
How to claim Claude Team API credits
- A Team Owner or Primary Owner opens Organization settings > Billing on claude.ai. On Max, it's Settings > Billing.
- In the API credits section, pick the Claude Console organization that should get the credit and accept the terms. You need the Owner, Admin or Billing role there.
- The credit shows in the Console under Settings > Billing, as Promotional credits, with its expiry date.
Take care at step 2. Each plan links to one Console organization, and only Anthropic support can change it.
What can a small team run on US$100 a month?
At list price, Claude Sonnet 5.5 costs US$2 per million tokens it reads and US$10 per million it writes. Anthropic puts a token at about three-quarters of an English word. So US$100 on Sonnet 5.5 pays for 50 million tokens read, or 10 million written.
That suits dull, repeat jobs:
- reading supplier invoices and putting the totals in a sheet
- sorting enquiries and drafting a first reply for a person to check
- pulling order details out of emails, the kind of retyping one owner got rid of
Before customer details go in, read what PDPA expects when customer data meets AI tools. Give each tool its own Console workspace with a spend limit, since every API key in the linked organization shares one balance.
Our take
We use Claude every day at Gotchaa Lab, and this is a useful change. It's also easy to waste. The credit resets whether you used it or not, and it does nothing until something is built to spend it.
Pick one boring job that eats hours of someone's week, and build that first. Don't add Premium seats just to grow the pool.
