Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Housing and Real Estate Developers Association (Shareda) has pledged to set its sights on shaping a sustainable, inclusive, and forward-looking property landscape in the State’s property sector through the launch of its Property Exhibition (PropEX) 2025 on Friday.
Its President Datuk Johnny Wong Chen Yee said this 47th PropEX brings together leading developers, financial institutions, and industry players under one roof for three days since Aug 22, offering opportunities for both aspiring homeowners and seasoned investors.
He said this year’s theme, ‘My Perfect Home’, reflected a deeply personal aspiration shared by all, which is the search and desire to find a place where comfort, security, and belonging converge, and it is about building dreams, one home at a time.
“PropEX is here to present not just projects, but opportunities – competitive, attractive and timely for the market.
“It (PropEX 2025) is a complete set from the roof to the floor, and everything in between. We have exhibitors covering every aspect of a perfect home. Whatever stage you are at in your journey, there is something here for everyone,” Johnny said at the launching of 47th PropEX 2025 by Deputy Chief Minister II cum Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Seri Dr Joachim Gunsalam, represented by Permanent Secretary Datuk Dr Jamili Nais at SICC.
Johnny acknowledged the challenges faced by developers in balancing rising costs with affordability but reaffirmed Shareda’s commitment to closing that gap.
“As developers, we are continuously encouraged to create better developments at more affordable prices. It is no easy task, but here in Shareda, we remain committed to closing the gap through a strategic and sustainable approach to balancing supply with demand.
“Within this changing landscape, I am honoured to serve as the Shareda’s President and my vision is to lead this association into a new era – one where we serve not only as the voice of developers but as a strategic partner to the government in building a sustainable, inclusive and forward-looking real estate ecosystem,” he said.
Following this, Johnny said for the first time, Shareda is introducing the ‘Financial Network Gathering’, a private session designed for developers and bankers to foster stronger ties with the financial sector.
“This initiative would provide a platform for meaningful conversations where we can network, socialise and build stronger connections with the financial sector.
“It is through partnerships like these that we can collectively address challenges, strengthen the bridge between development and financial support, ensuring that more homeownership dreams can be realised,” he added.
Johnny said that PropEX 2025 was more than just a property showcase, as it was a platform for networking and discovery.
“Whether you are searching for your perfect home, your next investment, or your next big idea – we hope you will find it here,” he said.
Meanwhile, PropEX 2025 Organising Chairman Jonathan Wong Kar Gee said the annual property exhibition continues to drive Sabah’s real estate landscape forward, bring stakeholders together and create meaningful opportunities for growth and connection.
He said PropEX 2025 is thoughtfully curated to be inclusive, inspiring, and family-friendly, not only to homebuyers and investors, but also to children, parents, and even grandparents—because the idea of a perfect home belongs to everyone.
“The exhibition features themed zones inspired by the ‘Journey of Life’, symbolising major milestones such as college, marriage, family life, and retirement – all leading back to one foundation: home.
“It also offers family-friendly activities, including a kids’ modelling contest, miniature house modelling, a mathematics competition, a calligraphy contest, a blood donation drive, and the popular Bingo game,” he said.
Jonathan also thanked the Government for its support that reaffirmed PropEX as more than just an industry showcase but a meaningful avenue for making homeownership more attainable.
“PropEX is more than a showcase – it is a journey of discovery, decisions, and dreams. It is a place to build connections, confidence, and perhaps most importantly, your future,” he said, welcoming the public to explore opportunities at the three-day exhibition.
