Kota Kinabalu: Several main roads around the city will be closed to facilitate the 20th State-level Christmas Celebration 2025.
Deputy Head of the Sabah District Police Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department, DSP Syahlan Sukimin, said the closures would involve the first rehearsal, second rehearsal and the main celebration event scheduled to take place on Dec 16 and Dec 19.
“A total of five main roads around the celebration venue will be closed in stages on the respective dates, depending on current traffic conditions.
“The first rehearsal will be held on Dec 14, followed by the second on Dec 15.
“The Official Opening Ceremony of the Christmas Celebration will take place on Dec 16,” he said when met after an interview session at the Sabah FM studio on Monday.
According to him, the affected routes include the KFC Bandaran junction to Padang Merdeka, Bukit Bendera junction, Bunga Raya Roundabout, the City Hall traffic lights and the Capital Roundabout.
The Official Opening Ceremony of the Christmas Celebration will be officiated by the Yang di-Pertua Negeri of Sabah, Tun Musa Aman.
He advised road users to comply with instructions from on-duty personnel, use alternative routes suggested through navigation applications such as Google Maps, remain alert and give way to emergency vehicles such as ambulances.
