
A 50-year-old woman and three of her family members, including two children, were injured after a cluster bus allegedly hit them while they were crossing a road near Multan Nagar red light in outer Delhi’s Paschim Vihar area, police said.
According to police, the incident took place around 6 pm on Sunday on Rohtak road when Nirmala Devi (50), and her family members were crossing the road.
A cluster bus operating on Route No. 954 was travelling from Rajghat towards Sultanpuri when it allegedly approached in a rash and negligent manner and struck the pedestrians. The impact caused Nirmala Devi and the accompanying family members, including two minors, to fall on the road and sustain injuries.
The injured were initially taken to Sri Balaji Hospital for treatment. Nirmala Devi was later shifted to another hospital for further medical care. Police said the other injured family members were being sent to Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital for medical examination.
One of the injured family members were identified as Nisha (23), a resident of Madipur JJ Colony, Delhi. Two minor children also suffered minor injuries.
Acting swiftly, police apprehended the bus driver, identified as Irshad Ali (28), a resident of Mir Vihar in Madanpur Dabas. The bus involved in the accident was also seized.
A case has been registered under Sections 281 and 125 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Paschim Vihar East police station. Further investigation is under way.
