Adviser to the Chief Minister, Nasir Aslam Wani, on Tuesday conducted an extensive review of major infrastructure and development works being executed under Jammu Smart City Limited and stressed the need for timely completion of key projects ahead of the forthcoming Amarnath Yatra.
The Adviser was accompanied by Jammu Municipal Corporation Commissioner Dr Devansh Yadav, Director Projects Sunil Thusu and other senior officials of Jammu Smart City Limited during the visit.
He first inspected the TATA e-Bus Depot being developed under the FAME-II initiative and reviewed the ongoing works related to the PM e-Bus Sewa project. Officials informed him that the modern electric bus infrastructure is being developed at an estimated cost of Rs 16 crore to strengthen eco-friendly public transport facilities in Jammu city.
Appreciating the efforts of Jammu Smart City Limited in modernising urban transport infrastructure, Nasir Aslam lauded the progress achieved so far and directed officials to ensure early completion and inauguration of the PM e-Bus Sewa project.
He said the Smart City initiatives are transforming Jammu into a cleaner, greener and more organised urban centre, adding that all developmental projects should be expedited in mission mode.
Later, the Adviser visited the upcoming Waste to Wonder Park project and expressed satisfaction after witnessing artistic monuments being created from recycled waste material. He also interacted with artisans and workers engaged in the project and appreciated their creativity and dedication.
Describing the initiative as a unique addition to Jammu city, he congratulated the Smart City team for undertaking a project aimed at promoting tourism, environmental awareness and public recreation.
Officials informed him that the Waste to Wonder Park is being developed at an estimated cost of Rs 11 crore and is expected to be completed by the end of June 2026.
However, the Adviser directed the concerned authorities to make all possible efforts to complete the project before the commencement of the Amarnath Yatra so that pilgrims and tourists visiting Jammu can also experience the attraction.
According to officials, the physical progress of the project has reached nearly 80 per cent. The park will feature 14 replica monuments made from scrap and recycled materials, including seven international monuments, five national landmarks and two monuments representing Uttar Pradesh.
Officials added that this will be the first Waste to Wonder Park in Jammu and is envisioned as a major recreational and educational destination for schoolchildren, tourists and local residents. The project is also expected to promote waste recycling and environmental sustainability through creative public infrastructure.
Reiterating the government’s commitment to accelerating urban development works, Nasir Aslam said efforts are being made to transform Jammu into a modern, citizen-friendly city equipped with sustainable infrastructure and improved public amenities.
