Malaysia is globally renowned for its multicultural harmony, a spirit personified by the recent ‘Gong Xi Ramadan’ phenomenon. Within a few short days, the crimson glow of Chinese New Year (CNY) lanterns met the quiet devotion of the Muslim holy month, capturing the heartbeat of a nation that doesn’t just tolerate its differences; it celebrates them.

This Muhibbah spirit was showcased by a Bumiputera-owned workshop in Banting, Selangor, which recently touched the hearts of Malaysians for going above and beyond to celebrate its sole Chinese employee during #CNY2026.

In a viral post, which has garnered over 15,000 reactions at the time of writing, Azam Motor Banting shared how the company decided to close shop early on CNY Eve to hold a festive feast for the said employee, Keong.

The workshop shared:

“Even though Keong is our only Chinese employee, that’s no reason to leave him out. To celebrate CNY, we hosted a makan-makan event and gave him Ang Pow (red packet). We even closed the workshop for a half-day, all for Keong."

Attached to the post are a couple of photos of the special CNY gathering by the Bumiputera company. In one photo, Keong was presented with a festive red cake and several Ang Pows, while the other showed the whole company participating in the CNY festivities in honour of their beloved colleague.

A few days later, during Ramadan, the workshop earned praise from Malaysians again in another viral post featuring Keong. This time, Azam Motor Banting shared that throughout the fasting month, the company will only operate until 4:30 pm so that all its employees can return home early.

Not only that, but before punching out, all employees are also given some buka puasa food to bring home by the company. These include the non-Muslim staff members, such as Keong.

Malaysians were moved by the gesture
