Coco Gauff powers into Miami Open final after Karolina Muchova rout

Gauff breezed past Muchova in straight sets, dropping just two games to record her seventh consecutive win over the Czech star.

The American will face Aryna Sabalenka in the final as she aims to capture her first WTA title of the 2026 season.

Gauff’s run has also impacted Iga Swiatek, whose difficult tournament was made worse by an early exit and another drop in the rankings.

Gauff has already collected 530 WTA Tour points for reaching the Miami Open final, which has helped her climb the rankings.

The 22-year-old has now usurped Swiatek as world number three, and the Pole has now dropped two places in the rankings due to her poor form in 2026.

Just 15 WTA Tour ranking points currently separate Gauff and Swiatek, although the American can create more distance by winning the Miami Open.

She will play Aryna Sabalenka for the title as she searches for her first title of this calendar year. And victory over Sabalenka could see Coco return to number one. She has to take the crown to leapfrog Paula Badosa into the top spot.

Gauff is now just one place away from her career-best ranking, which she achieved in June 2024 following Roland Garros.
