THE Department of Health (DOH) said on Wednesday that it has raised a Code White Alert following the entry of Super Typhoon Inday into the Philippine area of responsibility.
Under the alert status, all DOH operation centers will be on active duty 24/7 to ensure a rapid response to affected communities.
The DOH added that it is in close coordination with the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, local government units and regional disaster units concerning the typhoon’s arrival.
It noted that essential health emergency commodities have been pre-positioned in priority regions, including antibiotics, analgesics, antihypertensives, oral rehydration salts, respiratory drugs, medical supplies, hygiene kits, water purifiers like Aquatabs/Troclosene Sodium, drinking water containers and jerry cans, nutrition commodities and water, sanitation and hygiene kits.
The DOH urged the public to have a first-aid kit containing alcohol, adhesive bandages for wounds, elastic bandages for sprains, povidone-iodine, wound ointment, medical tape, small scissors, a face mask and disposable gloves.
”During typhoons and calamities, a well-stocked and complete first-aid kit is one of the most essential items for every family,” it said.
