Colby Covington isn’t limiting his Real American Freestyle ambitions to just Arman Tsarukyan.

Frustrated by his lack of action in the UFC and being left off the White House card, Covington has started looking elsewhere for opportunities. He’s already made a successful start in RAF, beating Luke Rockhold in his debut earlier this year.

He’s made it clear he plans to stay active in the promotion over the coming years and already has a few notable names he’d like to face.

Covington has expressed interest in a wrestling match with Tsarukyan, recently claiming he got the better of their training sessions at American Top Team.

But the Armenian isn’t the only name on Covington’s radar. He’s also set his sights on current middleweight champion Khamzat Chimaev.

Speaking to Helen Yee on YouTube, Covington brought up allegations against Chimaev related to a cryptocurrency project and said he wanted payback for those affected.

“He scammed all his friends with that memecoin,” Covington alleged. “He did a memecoin, put it out there, made like $5-10 million, and rug-pulled on all his fans.

“I know the fans want me to get revenge and they want me to slap him around. What better way to do it than the RAF mats,” he added.

Why UFC is unlikely to approve Covington vs Chimaev wrestling match

The former interim welterweight champion’s hopes of facing Chimaev may not be realistic, even if the fight itself makes sense. This is because the UFC is unlikely to sanction it.

Covington says that the UFC turned down his request for a match with Tsarukyan, explaining that they won’t allow him to compete against active UFC fighters outside of their own events.

This stance means both Tsarukyan and Chimaev are off-limits, so Covington will need to consider other options after his next scheduled bout.

He’s set to face Dillon Danis at RAF07 this Saturday, co-headlining an event that also features Tsarukyan’s rematch against Georgios Poullas in the main event.
