THE Bureau of Immigration (BI) said it is eyeing a partnership with the Office of the National Administrative Register (ONAR) to improve oversight, personnel skills and accountability.
“Modernizing the bureau means strengthening not only our systems and technology, but also the policies, processes, and people behind our services,” Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado said during exploratory talks with ONAR representatives on Oct. 10 at the UP Law Center.
The key topics in the meeting led by ONAR Director Flordeliza Vargas-Trinidad were audit, retrieval, consolidation, evaluation and codification of immigration policies.
Also tackled were training opportunities for BI personnel, including mandatory continuing legal education for lawyers, and improvements in the bureau’s quality management system.
