A 23-year-old college student was allegedly kidnapped, brutally assaulted, and murdered by gang members in the Bhuna town on Tuesday night, in an incident that underscores rising gang rivalry in the region.

The victim, Sachin alias China, a second-year BA student, was attacked around 10 pm while returning home on his motorcycle with his friend Pawan Kumar. According to the complaint filed by his uncle Krishna Kumar, the two were intercepted by members of the Bhamu gang near an ancient Shiva temple.

Police said the attackers blocked the motorcycle, causing both riders to fall. While Pawan managed to escape, the assailants allegedly abducted Sachin.

The family was alerted shortly after and launched a search with the police. Sachin was later found lying in a pool of blood near Hanuman Mandir on Hisar Road. He was rushed to Community Health Centre, where doctors declared him dead. According to the complaint, the attackers first broke Sachin’s arms and legs before stabbing him repeatedly with sharp-edged weapons.

Sachin had recently returned to Bhuna from Gurugram, where he was working and studying. He had come home on May 27 to attend a family celebration and was scheduled to return to Gurugram in a few days.

Based on the complaint, police have registered a case of kidnapping and murder against 10 named suspects — Jagjit alias Judge, Kushal, Aman, Saurabh, Praveen, Pinni, Deepak alias Billa, Chidimar, Kartik, and Suraj — along with 15 others. Police sources said several of the accused are also named in the high-profile murder of liquor contractor Pankaj Khurana in Khasa Pathana village.

The accused in that case were granted bail a few months ago, and the trial is still pending.

Bhuna SHO Om Prakash Bishnoi said teams from the CIA, Fatehabad; Tohana; Ratia; and Bhuna police were conducting raids to arrest the accused.

The killing has devastated the victim’s family and sparked fear among residents, who have demanded stronger action against gang activity and increased police patrols in the area.
