Tuaran: The 2025 Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations were made even more festive with the success of the Pantai Dalit “Colour-Light” competition, which attracted participation from 24 villages at the start of the Syawal celebrations, recently.

Eighteen villages advanced to the Champion Among Champions stage, with Kampung Trayung, here, emerging as this year’s overall winner

“I participate in this competition every year, and this time, we finally succeeded,” said Matuin Dahan from Kampung Trayung, who led his team.

Speaking to the media about preparations for the event, Matuin revealed that it took more than a week to complete the village’s decorative lighting design.

“The estimated cost for our participation was around RM1,600,” he said.

Event organiser Rijahan Aliaprah noted that the competition has been a treasured tradition in Pantai Dalit and Tuaran for the past 13 years.

“This is the fourth year we’ve successfully hosted it on a larger scale, and this year’s celebration has been especially lively compared to the previous ones,” said Rijahan, who is also Special Officer to the Chief Minister.

Judging was carried out by invited experts from Labuan and Kota Marudu, who professionally evaluated each village based on creativity and originality.

Beyond the dazzling lights and vibrant colours, the competition also strengthened the spirit of unity and togetherness among the local communities.
