In a commendable effort to strengthen community safety and emergency preparedness, Medic Asia Sdn Bhd conducted a comprehensive Basic First Aid, CPR and AED training programme on 26 April 2026 at Ozana Villas, Bukit Katil, Melaka. The initiative was spearheaded by the high committee of the Persatuan Penduduk dan Pemilik Ozana Villas, Bukit Katil, Melaka, reflecting their proactive commitment towards safeguarding the wellbeing of residents. The programme brought together both members of the residential community and security personnel, as the committee had arranged for their guards to participate alongside residents, ensuring that those on the frontlines as well as the general public are equipped with essential lifesaving skills.

The training session was designed to be highly practical and engaging, focusing on critical emergency response techniques that can make the difference between life and death. Participants were trained in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), including correct hand placement, compression depth, and rhythm, as well as the safe and effective use of Automated External Defibrillators (AED). In addition, the programme covered basic first aid management for common emergencies such as wounds, bleeding, fractures, and sudden medical events. Through hands-on simulation exercises and guided practice, participants were able to apply what they learned in realistic scenarios, building both confidence and competence in responding to emergencies.

Addressing the participants during the session, the Operations Manager of Medic Asia Sdn Bhd, Laguvendran Sandran, highlighted the vital role that strong community leadership plays in driving such initiatives. He stated that “from great committees come great people, and from great people come great leaders,” emphasising that meaningful change often begins with committed leadership at the community level. His remarks underscored the importance of collective responsibility, where both organisers and participants contribute towards creating a safer living environment.
Participants responded positively to the training, noting its relevance and practical value. One of the attendees, Encik Muhammad Hamka bin Mohd Ali, shared that the experience was both eye-opening and empowering. He expressed that prior to the training, he had limited knowledge of how to respond during emergencies, but now feels more confident in assisting not only his family members but also neighbours and members of the public when needed. He added that the hands-on approach of the training made it easier to understand and remember the correct techniques.

From the medical aspect and as a resident too, Dr Haryanti Sara Azmeen Mohd Razali emphasised the importance of immediate action during emergencies. She shared that the first few minutes following a cardiac arrest or serious injury are critical, and timely intervention through CPR and AED use can significantly improve survival outcomes. By equipping community members with these essential skills, more lives can potentially be saved before professional medical help arrives.

The successful execution of this programme highlights the effectiveness of collaboration between community organisations and professional training providers. It also sets a strong example for other residential communities to prioritise emergency preparedness and invest in lifesaving education. Through initiatives like this, Medic Asia Sdn Bhd continues to play a key role in empowering communities with the knowledge and skills needed to respond confidently in times of crisis, ultimately contributing to a safer and more resilient society.
