Compensation policy for farmers due to wild animal conflicts is being drawn up

PUTRAJAYA - The government is drafting a new policy regarding compensation for farmers or crop owners who suffer losses due to wild animal conflicts.

However, the Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change (NRECC) Minister Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad said the policy framework is still at the discussion stage with the ministries involved.

"Discussions have started with the Agriculture and Food Security (KPKM) Ministry, Plantation and Commodities Ministry and Finance Ministry," he told reporters after the NRECC Monthly Assembly and Biodiversity Talk here on Wednesday.
