Ahead of the monsoon season, Deputy Commissioner Aparajita on Monday conducted an inspection of drain and sewer cleaning works in Kaithal and Kalayat blocks and directed officials to complete all pending cleaning operations before the onset of rains.
During the inspection, the DC also directed the officials to immediately repair the broken railing at the Sillakhera drain bridge on Khanauri road and instructed the Public Health and Engineering Department to ensure proper cleaning of drains passing through the city.
She first visited the Amin drain bridge near Narar village, where she reviewed the desilting and cleaning work being carried out by the Irrigation Department. Executive Engineer Nishant Battan briefed her about the ongoing work.
Later, the DC visited the pump house at Kalayat that lifts water from the Pundri drain to the Sirsa branch canal. She reviewed the maintenance and cleanliness of the machinery installed at the pump house and directed the officials to remove water hyacinth growing in the drain. She also instructed the authorities to maintain proper sanitation in and around the premises.
