Amid growing apprehension, residents within the state are strongly urged to promptly seek medical attention at the nearest healthcare facility if they experience symptoms reminiscent of the alarming monkeypox virus.

Expressing deep concern, A. Sivanesan, the chairman of the State Human Resources, Health, Indian Community Affairs, and National Integration Committee, emphasized the gravity of the situation. He outlined the distressing symptoms that citizens need to be vigilant about, which encompass fever, exhaustion, persistent headaches, and a distressing maculopapular rash that initiates on the visage and progressively extends to the extremities, eventually invading other parts of the body.

"In the face of this perilous ailment, which is highly contagious and demands immediate quarantine upon confirmation, I earnestly implore the public to exercise utmost caution and promptly undergo health screenings if any of the symptoms manifest," stated Sivanesan during a press conference held after inaugurating a vital public health campaign at Aeon Mall Station 18, held today.

The unsettling revelation comes in the wake of an announcement from the Health Ministry (MOH) just yesterday, confirming the harrowing presence of two cases of monkeypox infection within the country.

The initial case involves an individual of foreign origin, while the subsequent case concerns a local male who had been in close contact with the primary monkeypox patient. Alarmingly, the local male tested positive for the monkeypox virus on July 29, sending shockwaves through the community.

In a concerted bid to thwart the rampant spread of this disconcerting illness, the Perak State Health Department (JKN) has promptly implemented proactive preventive measures. This involves stringent monitoring of high-risk zones, particularly international entry points, as pointed out by Sivanesan.

He further emphasized, "Our vigilance extends to encompass all individuals at potential risk, be they travelers or tourists. Rigorous training has been provided to all JKN personnel, empowering them to capably manage and contain monkeypox cases."

Speaking about the ongoing awareness campaign, Sivanesan highlighted that this initiative has been orchestrated in collaboration with Perak JKN by Quest International University. The main aim of this endeavor is to instill heightened consciousness within the public, focusing particularly on effective skin care practices and available treatments.

Crucially, the services offered under this campaign are entirely cost-free, underscoring the urgency of the matter. The public is encouraged to actively engage in a series of enlightening activities such as health forums and wholesome cooking workshops, designed to promote holistic well-being.

He remarked with conviction, "This commendable effort merits sincere commendation, for it not only extends invaluable free services but also imparts a diverse range of health resources that stand to greatly benefit the public." In the face of this challenging situation, it is imperative that collective action is taken to mitigate the spread of this concerning virus.
