Former Punjab Health Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu said here today that Congress General Secretary Capt. Sandeep Sandhu had filed a formal complaint with the State Election Commissioner against police officer Balwinder Singh Jhansal for severe violations of the Model Code of Conduct during the ongoing Mohali Municipal Corporation elections.

Sidhu alleged that Jhansal was actively abusing his official position to influence voters in favour of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidates and aligned Independent candidate Paramjit Singh Kahlon from Ward No. 10.

“The officer has been using vehicles with registration numbers PB 65 BJ 9908, PB 12 M 2031 and T0426CH 8403A to illegally distribute liquor across the constituency,” Sidhu alleged. “Video evidence showing the officer’s vehicle, complete with police stickers, being used to transport and supply liquor for electoral gains has been provided to the Election Commissioner,” he said.
