Former Punjab Health Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu has accused the Aam Aadmi Party of preparing fake votes in every ward for the upcoming Mohali Municipal Corporation (MC) elections. He has demanded that the state’s Election Commissioner to immediately intervene and cancel the bogus votes being created.

Addressing the media in Mohali, Sidhu said the Aam Aadmi Party, with the intention of capturing the Mohali MC at any cost, was allegedly creating around 300 fake votes in every ward. He claimed forged rent agreements were being prepared indiscriminately to register outsiders as voters in Mohali. He further said the identical format and attesting authority used in agreements prepared over the past one month clearly indicated that the agreements for different wards were drafted at a single location.

Giving an example, Sidhu said that in Ward Number 42, 304 new votes had allegedly been added, increasing the voter count from 678 to 982. .

Sidhu alleged that many of the alleged fake voters did not even have photographs attached on the voter lists, raising concerns that the votes could be cast by other individuals.
