Ahead of the impending changes in the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC), Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Thursday appointed three senior leaders as observers for Punjab.

Three leaders — Ajay Maken, Meenakshi Natarajan and Bhajan Lal Jatav — have been asked to submit report on political scenario in Punjab with immediate effect. Constituting of the three observers signals that the party high command has set into motion the process to streamline the functioning of the PCC. Sources said the leaders are likely to listen senior Punjab Congress leaders and district Congress chiefs to access the issues raised by state unit leaders before Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and Kharge during a meeting held last month in Delhi.
